How to dress for the visit of the Vatican Museums
The dress code for the Vatican Museums is strict but easy to respect.
Low-cut or sleeveless dresses, miniskirts, shorts and hats are not allowed.
To cover knees and shoulders you can buy plastic cloaks to wrap around.
Inside it is preferable to wear long-sleeved shirts and long trousers.
As for shoes, the welds are allowed but as the visit of the Vatican Museums lasts on average three hours is recommended the use of comfortable shoes.
Dress code for men
- The shirt is recommended. It is also possible to wear a T-shirt, provided it does not contain offensive images or slogans.
- Trousers at least knee-length. In summer it is possible to wear short trousers but the knee must be covered.
- It is considered bad manners to wear the hat inside the Museums.
Dress code for women
- It’s forbidden to show up with bare sleeves. In summer the solution can be to bring a cardigan or a shoulder cover to wear inside the Museums.
- Pants or skirts must cover up to the knee.
- It is absolutely forbidden to wear a top that leaves the belly open.
